Shielded FTP cable of "stranded" type designed for making patch cables. Its flexibility is ensured by the fact that individual conductors consist of so-called stranded wire, which is made up of seven thin copper strands with a diameter of 0.18 mm. Shielding is provided by an aluminum foil, and the PVC sheath is gray. Due to its characteristics (especially higher attenuation), stranded cable is not suitable for horizontal cabling.
The advantage of FTP cable over UTP is shielding under the outer sheath (foil around all 4 pairs). This makes it more resistant to static electricity and allows conductive connection of an outdoor unit with a grounded switch or PC - providing better surge protection.
